DamSmart for Windows is a comprehensive instrumentation and data management
system designed for performance monitoring of dams, tunnels, and other civil
infrastructure.
DamSmart for Windows provides you with powerful tools to assess
the performance of your critical civil structure efficiently and effectively.
You can automate routine instrumentation data reduction tasks from data entry
through analysis reports and graphs.
Almost any application where timely data, graphs, and reports are critical to the short term and the long term monitoring of civil structures would be candidate projects for DamSmart. A list of typical applications includes:

As you can see, most of the applications above require data to be taken for both short term and long term performance monitoring purposes.
Using a fully compliant Windows interface, and Sybase as the behind the scenes database, DamSmart for Windows virtually automates the task of collecting data from a variety of sources, minimizing input errors, and performs all of the necessary calculations for each individual sensor to store the data in a form that is most easily used for reports. In addition to storing scaled and converted data, DamSmart can also be configured to save the raw data, thereby minimizing future concerns over incorrect, lost, or missing data.
DamSmart can be purchased and installed for a stand-alone computer. Other versions are available for use on a network as either a non-concurrent version or as a concurrent version, so multiple users can track multiple projects simultaneously.
Each project is user defined and a single copy of DamSmart can track as many projects as desired. For example, a water district can monitor and track as many dams, watersheds, and pipelines, each as a separate project, as it likes.
With DamSmart you can configure all of your field conditions such as
barometric pressure, water temperature, air temperature, etc., that are common
to many instruments only once, and the common conditions will apply to each
instrument as required.
One of the most powerful features of DamSmart is the ability of the software to form types of sensors and groups of sensors. This "grouping" allows all of the same types of sensors to be configured for like field conditions and corrections, and allows some sensors to be manually read while other sensors are automatically read--all you need to do is put them in the proper group. Additionally, each sensor can have user defined calibration constants for full flexibility and control of the data.
The DamSmart Plotting and Reporting module has a complete
list of reports and reporting methods. Naturally there are the standard reports
of Instrument Definitions and all of the various set-up parameters. Then there
are the exception reports for any instruments whose data falls outside of a
limit that you define.
Further, DamSmart can automatically plot either standard
or custom defined reports using a variety of built-in and/or add-on plotting
methods. Some of the normal graphs are time-history plots (both single- and
dual-Y axis), position plots, bar charts, correlation plots, and phreatic
surface plots. DamSmart links automatically to Microsoft Excel (must be supplied
separately) as the main tool for plotting, but data can be automatically
exported to many other graphic applications including Visio and Surfer. There
you can create a user-defined plot including cross sections, overlays, CAD
drawings, etc. Plus, you can group any number of plots together for batch
plotting. The power of DamSmart allows automated batch operations, so that large
reports and full plots can be prepared automatically at night and over the
weekend.
This is only a small sampling of the features of DamSmart. Let DamSmart for Windows take the drudgery out of your data reduction tasks and spend more time thinking about the results. Be smart. Get DamSmart.
